We have officially entered into the Holiday Season! I am sure I am not the only momma who feels like her plate is running over already. There are gifts to think through, holiday crafts, holiday cooking, traditions, decorations, and the list just goes on and on. Right on top of the other millions of items we keep track of, manage, and keep alive during our day to day routines.
I saw a video the other day on Instagram where a mom was saying that she likes her coffee with a bit more creamer than most. She then proceeds to pour in another tablespoon or two of creamer, into an already full cup. Of course when she goes to pick it up and take a sip, her coffee overflows and spills onto the counter. The mom was giving a tangible example of what happens when we put too much on our plate, it will overflow and items will spill out. Items that you won’t have any control over will spill out and get dropped. Her message was in the busyness and beauty of this holiday season, to be mindful of what you put on your plate, because you won’t get to control what gets dropped when there is too much.
This video hit home for me because I have had a bunch on my plate lately. To the point that I’ve lost my wedding band, dropped my debit card, and walked away from self-checkout leaving behind groceries. I want to be present and enjoy all the moments this season will bring. I want to not rush through decorating the house, putting up the tree, and baking Christmas cookies because I have other items that I need to be attending to. In an effort to give my best to my family and create a little breathing room for myself, I am not going to be posting any blogs from now until January 10th.
I love being able to share with each of you every week what the Lord lays on my heart and I will miss not sending out a post weekly. But as I was sitting at the desk to write today and praying what I was to write this is what I felt the Lord was saying. I hope that you all have a Happy Thanksgiving, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year. I also hope that you are able to look over the laundry list of items on your plate and see if there are one or two items you could set aside just for a bit to give yourself some breathing space this Holiday season.
I love you all and will be keeping all of you in my prayers. I will see you all in 2026!
