Eternity

With the murder of a very known public speaker/defender of the Christian faith this week, I have been questioning and wondering what Allie’s future will look like when she is an adult. The track that our country and world is going at the moment has me concerned. I understand that scripture talks about the degrees to which the world will evolve into a deeper state of darkness as it gets closer to the second coming of Jesus Christ. And before Allie, I was able to sit a lot easier in that truth and see the constant falling away of this world as steps closer to Christ’s return. And though I still do see these moments that way, it takes a lot more prayer and surrender to get there.

My initial reaction, per usual, is to lock the doors and never leave the house again. With the invention of Door Dash, Instacart, and the likes it is very easy to do. I could raise Allie in a very controlled bubble where I can see through most outcomes and can ensure that she is only around people that will do her no intentional harm. But I wouldn’t be honoring the Lord in His calling in raising Allie, nor providing a strong foundation for Allie to stand on. This world is predictably unpredictable and fallen. Hiding away from the world, would be giving into the fear and allowing the fear to stop me from the ultimate call on my life, which is to share the Gospel.

Yes, it seems crazy to keep bringing my baby out into this lost and dark world, when I have all the options available to me to keep her home and safe. But I don’t keep bringing her out into the world because I am mentally unstable, though that could be debated, I continue to bring her because of my faith. The faith in Jesus Christ, who knows what each day will hold for Allie, me, and for you. Faith in a Lord that is with each and everyone of us, who is always behind us, and who is forever before us.

Our pastor this weekend talked about taking the fear and changing the driving factor and/or the focus. For example, I could be afraid that the person at the store could cause harm to Allie and/or myself. Or I could focus on potentially missing the opportunity to share the gospel with someone and changing what their eternity looks like. It is all about what is being focused on. I can’t ignore the happenings in this world, even if I wanted to. But I can choose to focus on Jesus and the promises that He says within His Word. So can you. Through Christ’s death on the cross we have all been given the great opportunity to salvation through the gift of grace.

And I know that we may not know each other in a personal or even in an in person kind of way, but I wouldn’t be honoring the conviction I feel if I didn’t give you the opportunity to accept this salvation and gift of grace. If you are feeling the nudging on your heart to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, please don’t ignore it. Don’t listen to the lies that say you aren’t good enough or that your choices make you unworthy, because they are just that, lies. Jesus knows every single thing about you and in His great love for you He died on the cross in place of you. Don’t wait another moment to start walking life with Jesus, say this prayer  right where you are.

Dear Lord, I am a sinner. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again three days later. Lord, please forgive me and come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. Lord, I give my life to you. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus, name I pray, amen.

If you just said this prayer, woohoo! Congrats and welcome to the family. I would highly encourage you to get connected to a local church in your area, if you need help in finding one please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Being a Christian doesn’t make the world a better place to be in. Being a Christian and living your life for Jesus gives you a great truth and hope to focus on. It is also amazing to know that Jesus has everything in His hands and knows the outcome of every situation. He knows the mistakes I will make in raising Allie, and has already accounted for those in His calling and plan for her life.

If you aren’t ready to say that prayer just yet but would like to talk more about faith or have questions, you are welcomed to reach out to me any time.
